Every now and then I get suggestions and requests, which I always take into serious consideration. It may take a while to come to fruition, but it’ll get there. Case and point:
This set was requested by someone who obviously got tired of the same ol’ Life Aquatic Belafonte crew. I totally agree! It’s been on the back burner for a while now and I finally pinched enough hours here and there to knock this one out.
Here’s Steve Zissou’s ex-wife Eleanor and Ned Plimpton wearing a more casual Team Zissou ensemble.
Here’s also Anne-Marie Sakowitz, the often topless script girl and another member of Team Zissou that I always wanted to paint; and Werner, Steve’s nephew.
I’m randomly clicking through ebay, see peacock earrings and think, ‘My friend would love these; she likes quirky things.’ I come up with russian stackable dolls as another quirky thing she might like and search it. Nothing interesting so I count five of them on one picture and think, what could I paint that would be funny and much better than these typical dolls. I think, Royal Tennenbaums (favorite movie). I’m thinking about ‘painting’ and then Eli Cash’s painting comes up so I search google images to get the name of it in order to check if there are any prints available. I search “painting royal tenenbaums eli cash” (NOTHING to do with stacking dolls in my search) I click one of the images and I’m brought here to see this. I scroll down and see Royal Tennenbaums. I lose my mind. Just had to share. These are absolutely marvelous!
Thanks for that! I think Eli Cash’s paintings are one of the best parts of the movie. Poster versions of that need to be available to the general public!
Actually they are painted by Miguel Calderon 🙂
Good to know! Thanks for the info!
No problem! They really stand out in the background! Crazy amazing paintings
Oh and these dolls are amazing too! I would love to be a member of team Zissou!
